Black construction paper By Bethany Broadwell, iCan.com columnist It always used to baffle me about what to do with the black construction paper in a colorful assortment packet. About every other shade could make into a crude flower or animal design. Black sheets, however, were too dark for coloring, which was my primary purpose for the pages as a child. Then, I discovered a project that helped me realize the potential of the construction paper I never knew how to use. I placed my black sheets in our freezer and waited for the perfect opportunity to present itself. On the first day that flakes floated from above, I bundled for the brisk outdoor air and captured the snowy splendors on my pages. Against the contrasting darkness, their delicate, lacy patterns made me marvel. The wonder of whiteness is brilliant if you catch it just the right way. |
